Lockdown Forest School in Snow - Feb 2021

FROZEN FOREST SCHOOL

February 7th to 14th 2021

With an icy blast, winter arrived on the locked down Forest School at the beginning of February in 2021!

Sadly, as we were in the middle of a nationwide lockdown, Forest School activities were suspended during this freezing weather, so the children could not experience the site as a group ... though those that did venture there in their own time said that the -1 to -5 temperatures were a bit uncomfortable after an hour or so!

As the photos show, the ditch we use for our avenue of dens is well and truly flooded, though the lake is frozen solid! The rest of the site, so muddy in December, is now like rock underfoot, with the mud frozen solid with a crust of snowy ice!

Hopefully, next winter will give us a similar taste of the arctic, though proper warm winter clothing and mugs of hot chocolate will be compulsory!

Below are photos of the Forest School site in the snow, as well as animal tracks that criss-crossed the site. Any ideas what they could be?
