Fri 24 May 2019 Mrs Francis

You may be aware that teachers looking to start new posts for September have to confirm their resignation from their current post by summer half term.  So we are pleased to confirm our staff for September too.

We would like to congratulate Miss Marshall who will be moving to Holy Trinity CE Primary, Cuckfield in September. This is a larger school offering both KS1 and KS2 opportunities for her.  She has been a dedicated and popular member of the teaching staff for ten years now.  We have valued her contribution to the school and we will miss her. We wish her every success in her new post and her teaching career.

Mr Langdon will also be leaving at the end of the term to teach at Pound Hill Junior School. This will offer him an opportunity to work in a larger school with a bigger team and the opportunities which that will bring.  Mr Langdon has been a popular teacher and sports enthusiast and we wish him well in his career.

With the current national shortage of teachers, we are absolutely delighted to confirm that our teaching team will be joined by three new members of staff; Mrs Huxley, Miss Baker and Miss Ainsworth. They were selected from an impressive field of candidates wishing to join Copthorne Juniors and followed our rigorous and extensive recruitment process.  We were so impressed by their energetic, enthusiastic teaching and are confident that they will complement our already strong team of teachers.

As usual in the summer term, the Leadership Team will be planning the classes and teachers for September. We will be informing parents at the end of June of which class their child will be in.

To ensure a smooth transition our new teachers will be visiting the school on a number of occasions before the end of term.  There will be an opportunity for you to meet them, as well as Miss Ash our new Deputy Headteacher, on the Open Afternoon on Friday 28th June.  We will also be having a moving up morning for the children on Friday 19th July so the children will have the chance to spend time in their new class with their new teacher.

We are looking forward to welcoming our new teachers to the team and know that they are committed to supporting the ethos of our school and will bring with them new ideas and experience.

  • Deputy Headteacher

    Wed 08 May 2019

We are delighted to inform you that we have appointed Miss Melissa Ash as our new Deputy Headteacher and SENCO.  We received a high number of impressive applications and our shortlisted candidates joined us for an intensive interview process involving Governors, SLT, staff and children. Miss Ash was our unanimous choice.

Miss Ash is an experienced Deputy who is joining us from Holy Cross CE Primary School in Uckfield. She will be visiting the school over the summer term to get to meet all staff and children so we will be able to ensure a smooth transition into the Autumn term.

Miss Ash will also be joining us for the Open Afternoon on Friday 28th June so you will be able to meet her then.
