On the 5th of October we celebrated our Harvest Festival at St John's Church.  The children brought food and toiletries in to School which we then donated to East Grinstead Foodbank.

Copthorne Junior School Climbs Everest and Walks to John O’Groats!

On Friday 18th March, the pupils, staff and parents of Copthorne CE Junior School put on their sportiest outfits and collectively set off to climb Mount Everest and walk all the way to the UK’s most northerly town of John O’Groats in Scotland, all in the name of Sport Relief 2016!

Throughout the whole day, pupils and staff pounded up and down the school’s benches to achieve the target 29,493 steps to reach the equivalent 8848 metre summit of Everest.

In the meantime, the rest of the school were lapping a 200m course around the field, with a target of 5410 laps equivalent to the 1082 kilometre journey from Copthorne School to northern Scotland.

At 2.30pm, the rest of the Copthorne village community joined in, with parents walking and stepping side-by-side with their children to hit our Sport Relief target.

When the 3pm assembly arrived, children, staff and parents gathered together to hear the results.

Copthorne CE Junior School had collectively climbed 74,410 steps! That is twice the height of Everest, with Mont Blanc stuck on top! We had also managed to collectively walk 5416 laps, walking all the way to John O’Groats and a little beyond!

A HUGE well done to all the pupils, staff and parents for their amazing enthusiasm, energy and collective efforts to achieve something truly amazing, while raising money for a fantastic cause.
