Science - Why Are Plants Important?

HOME LEARNING - SUMMER TERM WEEK 5 - SCIENCE

WHY ARE PLANTS IMPORTANT TO LIFE ON EARTH?

Our science topic for the summer term is 'Potty About Plants', where, week-by-week, we aim to discover what makes plants 'tick'.

This week, after learning about germination, parts of a plant, pollination and how seeds are spread, it is time to put it all together and think about the 'big question' ... Why Are Plants Important?

CLICK ON THE LINKS BELOW to watch the various picture files, video clips and PowerPoints below to get an idea why plants are just soooooooooooooooooooooooo important to all life on Earth and why it is critical that we do all we can to protect and develop habitats full of plant life!

TASK - Create a simple information poster (or PowerPoint) to explain the reasons why plants are so important to humans and all life on Earth

Look through the information posters, websites and video clips below and make a list of the main reasons why plants are so important.

Put these key reasons as simply as you can into a bright and colourful (and easy to read!) information poster to explain to other children (and adults) why plants need to be protected and helped
