60 Second Reading Tasks
HOME LEARNING - SUMMER TERM WEEK 2 - READING ACTIVITIES
Daily Reading
Please continue to read each day. This can be to an adult, quietly to yourself or alongside an audio book. Try to read a variety of books, including fiction stories, non-fiction information and maybe some poetry!
60 Second Comprehensions - Click on links below
Hopefully you got the hang of these last week. These are very short pieces of text (around 100-150 words) with accompanying questions that focus on vocabulary, retrieval, prediction, summarising and inference. There is an accompanying answer sheet ... so no peaking first!
There is a guidance sheet for parents to explain how to use the comprehension and the types of questions.
We have suggested two specific comprehensions for this week:
Extreme Weather: "Spotting a Tsunami" - Question 4 needs thinking about carefully
Stone Age: "Stone Age Time Periods" - linked to our new history topic
You are more than welcome to do more comprehensions if you wish ... or maybe do a bit of research on what a Tsunami is and how/where they occur.
