Reading - 60 Second Comprehensions
HOME LEARNING - SUMMER TERM WEEK 10 - READING ACTIVITIES
Please continue to read each day. This can be to an adult, quietly to yourself or alongside an audio book. Try to read a variety of books, including fiction stories, non-fiction information and maybe some poetry!
60 Second Comprehensions - Click on links below
Hopefully you now have the hang of these tasks. These are very short pieces of text (around 100-150 words) with accompanying questions that focus on vocabulary, retrieval, prediction, summarising and inference. There is an accompanying answer sheet ... so no peaking first!
There is a guidance sheet for parents to explain how to use the comprehension and the types of questions.
We have suggested two specific comprehensions for this week:
Magic, Wizards and Witches: "One Tiny Mistake" - Question 4 - summing up the whole story in 20 words is always tricky ... can you do it so it is clear and makes good sense?
World Religions: "The Miracle at Knock" - Question 3 will need you to back up your view clearly using evidence that makes clear sense ... and Question 4 needs you to think sensibly about next actions ... what would YOU do?
You are more than welcome to do more comprehensions if you wish ... or maybe do a bit of research on what actually happened at the 'Miracle of Knock' as it is a TRUE STORY!
