Reading - 60 Second Comprehensions
HOME LEARNING - SUMMER TERM WEEK 8 - READING ACTIVITIES
Please continue to read each day. This can be to an adult, quietly to yourself or alongside an audio book. Try to read a variety of books, including fiction stories, non-fiction information and maybe some poetry!
60 Second Comprehensions - Click on links below
Hopefully you now have the hang of these tasks. These are very short pieces of text (around 100-150 words) with accompanying questions that focus on vocabulary, retrieval, prediction, summarising and inference. There is an accompanying answer sheet ... so no peaking first!
There is a guidance sheet for parents to explain how to use the comprehension and the types of questions.
We have suggested two specific comprehensions for this week:
Rainforests: "People of the Rainforest" - Question 3 - what evidence will you use to INFER your answer about what a tilapia is?
World Religions: "Dazzling Diwali" - You will need to chat with your family about Question 4 and other festivals that use light in their celebration - how many will you think of?
You are more than welcome to do more comprehensions if you wish ... or maybe do a bit of research on what a TILAPIA is from the Rainforest comprehension. Would be interesting to find some pictures or learn something about how it lives.
