Reading - 60 Second Comprehensions
HOME LEARNING - SUMMER TERM WEEK 7 - READING ACTIVITIES
Please continue to read each day. This can be to an adult, quietly to yourself or alongside an audio book. Try to read a variety of books, including fiction stories, non-fiction information and maybe some poetry!
60 Second Comprehensions - Click on links below
Hopefully you now have the hang of these tasks. These are very short pieces of text (around 100-150 words) with accompanying questions that focus on vocabulary, retrieval, prediction, summarising and inference. There is an accompanying answer sheet ... so no peaking first!
There is a guidance sheet for parents to explain how to use the comprehension and the types of questions.
We have suggested two specific comprehensions for this week:
Anglo Saxons: "Premium Property for Sale" - Question 3, think carefully about why certain words and phrases were used ... who is the target audience?
Extreme Weather: "The Official Safe-Tea Shelter" - Similar in style to the Anglo Saxon comprehension, so compare the two. What is similar in the style of writing?
You are more than welcome to do more comprehensions if you wish ... or as both these comprehensions were all about selling a property, perhaps you could write an advert selling your OWN house?
