Old Messages from Miss W & Miss A

26.05.20 - 5A Science Documentary Competition!

Hello 5A,

I hope you're all having a lovely start to your half term. I've got an exciting announcement to make about the winners of the documentary competition from your Science task last week about David Attenborough...

Firstly, thank you to everyone who managed to send me their videos - they were all so amazing and filled with brilliant knowledge, and I absolutely loved watching them and seeing you all have fun. It was nearly impossible to choose so please don't feel disheartened if you didn't quite get a certificate. We'll do more fun competitions next half term. Below are the winners for the 3 categories. 5B, Miss Ainsworth is responsible for your class's competition and I'm sure she'll announce the winners soon.

Most scientifically accurate - George

Most imaginative and resourceful - Izzy

Best impersonation of David Attenborough - Peyton

Well done! I will email your certificates to you.

Good afternoon Year 5s,

We just wanted to say a huge WELL DONE for all your hard work, effort and positivity this half term - we know it's not been easy for you! We also wanted to thank your parents/carers for supporting you as best they can with your home learning.

If you haven't yet sent your science documentary to your teacher, please do so soon so we can announce the winners of the competition at the beginning of next week. Thank you to those who have sent them through - they're brilliant!

Finally, we want to wish you a lovely and relaxing half term. There are some optional fun activities below, which you can do as and when you wish throughout the week.

Speak to you soon,

Miss W & Miss A

Hello again lovely Year 5s,

We hope you all had a good week last week and a lovely weekend. Well done again for your fantastic work! We've almost made it all the way to half term now!

As before, the set tasks and resources will be put online on Monday for you to complete throughout the week at home and email back to us by Friday morning - ideally before lunchtime; this is so we have a chance to respond to your wonderful work before the week is over. You can also just send your work as and when you complete it throughout the week - this seemed to be the preference for most people last week. You can email us your work, any questions you have and even photos of what you're getting up to.

11.05.20 - Afternoon

Hi Y5s!

Just a quick reminder that the child-friendly news broadcast from BBC's Newsround, which we use in school, is still available. With parent/carer permission, you may wish to have a look, especially as you may be feeling confused about last night's announcement from the government.

Dear wonderful Year 5s,

We are so proud of you all for yet another week of fantastic home learning last week! We continue to enjoy reading through your work you send us - we know this takes up time for your parents! - and absolutely love receiving pictures of what you're getting up to! We were pleased to hear from more of you last week but if you still haven't managed to email us your work, we would still love to see what you have been doing and what you get up to this week. Please do reach out to us if you're finding things tricky so we can support you, we understand that times are difficult for everyone. Do check out the Home Learning Incentives section for some ideas on how to keep motivated .

As before, the set tasks and resources will be put online on Monday for you to complete throughout the week at home and email back to us, but by Thursday morning this week as it's a bank holiday on Friday commemorating 75 years since VE Day! Please note that there are also less set tasks this week for this reason but if you would like to challenge yourself with learning about VE Day and doing some fun themed activities, we have provided some optional tasks and resources. If you send your work on Thursday, please try to send it before lunchtime; this is so we have a chance to respond to your wonderful work before the week is over. You can also just send your work as and when you complete it throughout the week - please try to send multiple attachments in one email rather than separate attachments and emails. You can email us your work, any questions you have and even photos of what you're getting up to.
