MATHS- SUMMER TERM WEEK 10- PROBLEM SOLVING
As you have learnt almost all you need to know for Year 3, I felt it was time for a new challenge.
This week, I would like you to have a go at doing at LEAST 3 of these challenges. It is absolutely fine if you'd like to do more, but I expect each challenge will last for over one session.
3M are VERY familiar with these questions and have even had a go at some already!
For these NRICH problem solving you will need to use your adding and subtracting skills. There is no set way to approach these questions, it is all about using your knowledge and working methodically to try and get the answer. You can use any resources that are lying around your house to help you. These problems are all from KS1 and go up in difficulty- 3 stars being the most challenging. It may sound easy enough, but making sure you have investigated all possible outcomes AND read the question carefully makes it more challenging than it seems. I recommend using the paper to write down your workings out. You can check what other children have said is the answer on the website! When 3M do this task, they often work together in pairs. Maybe you could video call a friend and work together this week? It doesn't matter if you're right or wrong, what matters is using and exercising your problem solving skills to try and get the answer!
